Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the most fertile areas in the continent. One million people depend on its agriculture. In the 90's, a sudden fall in coffee prices caused a dramatic increase of poverty for the region. Inhabitants converted to wood trade and big areas got deforested, thus aggravating drought due to climate changes. Sebastian Chuwa is a botanist born in the region in 1954; in twenty years, helped by hundreds of volunteers, he replanted two million trees.
